Somersworth Students Receive Free Flu Shots.
Have you had your flu shot yet this year? Thanks to a collaborative effort many of the students that attend Somersworth schools have.
That collaboration took place between Greater Seacoast Community Health (Formally Goodwin Community Health), Healthcare and Transformative Healthcare, Stewart’s Ambulance Service and the Public Health Network all four of the schools that make up the Somersworth district were visited. All students received a permission slip and once filled in and returned to the school, it was just a matter of coordinating both the students and the health professionals.
The shots were all provided free of charge thanks to the the NH DHSS who funded the project through the 19 districts that make up Strafford County. Last year the effort administered around 1200 free flu shots to students. This year they hope to increase that number to around 2,000.
I personally love seeing organizations work together for the greater good of the community and this is just one example of what is happening right here in our very own Somersworth school district.
If you have not had your flu shot yet this year, it is recommended especially for the younger and elder ones among us. You can contact Greater Seacoast Community Health to find out more or your own physician.Tags: flu shots, free, Good community health center, Greater Seacoast Community Health, public health, somersworth schools, stewart's ambulance
